Canon EOS 600 Battery Drain

About a week ago, my partner bought me a Canon EOS 600 at a flea market in Immenstadt, Germany. It’s a model I really like and the camera came with a Sigma 35–105 f/3.5–4.5 lens. The cover and the eyecup were missing from the camera, so I ordered new ones, as they are still being made.
After some cleaning, the camera looked really good, but the LCD backlight was flickering, which is a common issue with these kinds of cameras. Unfortunately, that means it will constantly consume power and drain the battery quickly. As spare parts for the LCD backlighting are hard to come by, the solution I chose after some research was to desolder the LCD backlight from the power circuit. The wires were then insulated by some electrical tape. This is easily reversible, and the only downside is that the LCD backlight won’t work, but it won’t drain the battery. Now the camera is working perfectly, and I’m going to try it out with some film next week.
